CLAS' philosophy is that the best remedy for student discipline problems is exciting, engaging instruction delivered in a caring, compassionate school environment. In order to establish an environment of cooperation and mutual respect, Culture and Language Academy of Success has designed its own system of empathy training throughout the school called RIGHTEOUS. RIGHTEOUS is based on the ancient Kemetic (Egyptian) principles of MA'AT, a humane system of thought and conduct, and one of the world's oldest sources of spiritual and moral instruction. MA'AT consists of seven core guiding principals that all students at CLAS must be familiar with and understand– truth, order, justice, balance, harmony, reciprocity, and propriety.

All students abide by the RIGHTEOUS program norms of respect and open communication so as to help them learn how to appropriately express their needs and effectively solve minor problems. Conferencing, peer conflict resolution, and self-reflection are the first line of intervention when addressing behavioral issues. Teacher communication with students’ families is of primary importance as we work together to create and maintain a self-sufficient and healthy community.
