We can't provide an excellent educational experience to our students without your generous support. CLAS has two key approaches for substantially enhancing the positive and successful impact on students' lives for which CLAS is known. The first is our Annual Giving Campaign. The second is our 3-year, Vision for Excellence Capital Campaign which has an established goal of raising 5 million dollars by June 30, 2010.

Annual Giving
Donors can contribute to either our four-tiered giving structure which defines the levels at which friends of CLAS can contribute to the ongoing improvement of our schools or they can support specific targeted needs. Either way, donors ensure that the Culture and Language Academy of Success provides a stellar education or to our The four tiers are:

Student: Contributions up to $1000
Donors at the student level contribute items essential to ensuring individual students success at CLAS. Student level benefactors can envision their contributions as serving to equip any of CLAS’ star pupils with tools and supplies that permit them to perform at the highest level.

Classroom: Contributions from over $1000 to $10,000
Partners at this level of support should think of their donation as outfitting the individual CLASroom™ with class gifts that are vital to creating a state of the art schoolroom experience for CLAS’ 21st Century scholars.

Learning Span: Contributions from over $10,000 to $50,000
Aligned with the CLAS concept of standards-based learning occurring within developmentally appropriate learning spans, contributors’ donations furnish an entire span with the necessary tools and equipment characteristic of the nation’s highest achieving schools and beyond.

School-wide: Contributions of over $50,000
Providing the widest level of support, school-wide benefactors significantly impact all students, classrooms, and learning spans, and markedly strengthen CLAS’ effectiveness and independence to serve as a truly innovative place of learning.

Alternatively, donors can also display their generosity by giving to our CLASneeds™ Program that targets specific needs od our schools. Here, donors directly fund an immediate need that a school has to improve our services to children. In this way, donors make an immediate impact in a very real and tangible way. CLASneeds™ is divided up into the following categories:

Instructional Materials, Sports & Fitness, Breakfast, Lunch & Nutrition, Student Journeys, Technology Infrastructure, Community Events, and Facilities & Maintenance.

Currently we have the following immediate needs within each of these categories:

Sports and Fitness

• Heavy Duty Portable Basketball Standards with plexiglass backboards – $1,500.00 ea. (need 2)
• CLASsports™ Team Scribes Athletics Program (uniforms, registration fees, permits, practice facilities and equipment, plus incidentals, for our flag football and volleyball leagues) – $5,000.00
• Gymnasium for use as practice facility within 5 miles radius of school campus (donated time of 10 hours per week to accomodate practices and afternoon home games)

Breakfast, Lunch, and Nutrition

• Outdoor lunch tables, thermoplastic coated steel – $600.00 ea. (6 needed)

Student Journeys

• Buses for Monthly Local (So. Calif.) Curricular Field Trips – $1,000.00 each trip (10 needed)

Facilities and Maintenance

• New student desks, chairs, and classroom shelving – $5,500.00 each CLASroom™ (outfitting 15 CLASrooms™)
• New office furniture and shelving – $15,000.00
• Commercial vacuum cleaner – $800.00 (3 needed)

Technology Infrastructure

• 580 new Apple MacBook laptop computers with wireless connectivity for students to reestablish our 1:1 computing program
  ( $600,000.00)
• 40 new Apple PowerBook laptops with wireless connectivity for staff ($80,000.00)
• 2 Apple Xserve Raid servers for facilitating a networked computing environment
• 30 ActiveBoard interactive whiteboards – $51,000.00 ($1,700.00 ea.)
