A New Location and Grade Level Configurations for 2009-10

With our summer vacation having officially begun, we want to keep the community abreast of the latest news regarding our facility acquisition and grade level specific configuration. The following facility locations and configuration are set for 2009-2010:

Kindergarten and First Grade will be located at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 2009 West King Blvd, Los Angeles, 90062.

Second Grade and Third Grade will be located at Coliseum Elementary School at 4400 Coliseum St, Los Angeles, CA 90016

Fourth Grade through Eighth Grade will be located at Orville Wright Middle School at 6550 W 80th St Los Angeles, CA 90045 on the Emerson Avenue Side east of 80th Street.

For our incoming fourth and fifth grade families, these students will be isolated from the middle school students in the classroom because they will be housed in a bungalow and they will have a different lunch and recess than the middle school students. The fourth grade’s movement to the middle school location is temporary. The time frame we have been given is 6 months to one year before additional bungalows can be placed at the Coliseum location.

If there are any changes to the above, you will be notified during the summer. As it stands now, this is where CLAS will be located and configured for 2009-2010. If you have any questions, please call our administrative offices directly at 323-777-8400.

Enjoy your summer! See you at the CLAS School Tour 2009.

CLAS Scribes Read All Summer Long
A standing summer homestudy policy is that students should read daily for a minimum of 30 minutes. And by "daily" we mean each and every day including weekends. This will keep students sharp and will help them to return to school in the fall ready to learn.

Middle school students will have summer reading assignments that they will be required to complete and submit prior to school beginning in September. Families of middle school students will be notified of these summer reading assignmets after the 4th of July holiday. They will also be posted here on the CLAS website. Be sure to check back often to learn more.
